Carpenter Ant Treatment — Waupaca Home

Carpenter ants tunneling in damp wood around a Waupaca home. Colony located, baited, and the moisture source fixed to stop re-infestation.

The Field Report

Inspection

A Waupaca homeowner near the Chain O' Lakes noticed large black ants trailing along the kitchen and found sawdust-like frass beneath a window sill. Our inspection confirmed carpenter ants — Wisconsin's most destructive ant — nesting in water-damaged wood around a leaking exterior door.

What We Found

  • A carpenter ant satellite colony in the damp sill plate by the deck door
  • Frass (sawdust-like kickout) along the baseboard and window frame
  • A moisture source from a slow deck flashing leak feeding the colony
  • Foraging trails from the nest into the kitchen along the foundation

Treatment

We treated the nest directly and placed gel bait on the foraging trails so workers carry it back to the parent colony. The homeowner repaired the deck flashing to remove the moisture that drew the carpenter ants in the first place — without fixing the moisture, carpenter ant control in Waupaca rarely lasts.

Follow-Up

Two weeks later, no new frass and no ant activity. A quarterly perimeter program now protects this Waupaca property through every carpenter ant season.

Real carpenter ant control in Waupaca, WI — colony eliminated, moisture fixed, home protected.
