Foundation Barrier

Perimeter Sprays

A long-lasting liquid barrier applied around the foundation, entry points, and eaves of your home to stop crawling pests before they ever get inside.

Perimeter Sprays
The Science

Exactly How It Works

A perimeter spray is a liquid insecticide applied as a continuous band around the outside of your home — the foundation, sill plate, ground-floor entry points, and eaves. It works two ways: as a contact kill for pests that walk across the wet spray, and as a residual barrier that keeps working for weeks after it dries.

When a foraging ant, spider, or boxelder bug crosses the treated band, it picks up a lethal dose through its feet and cuticle. Most modern perimeter products are "non-repellent" — pests cannot sense them, so they walk right through the treated zone instead of avoiding it. That is what makes them far more effective than older sprays that simply pushed pests around.

The barrier does not last forever. Sun, rain, and foot traffic break it down, which is why a quarterly re-application is what keeps the protection continuous through the Wisconsin seasons.

The Process

Step-by-Step

  1. 01

Inspect the foundation, doors, windows, utility penetrations, and eaves for pest entry and harborage.

  2. 02

Apply a liquid barrier to the foundation wall, sill plate, and ground-floor entry points — typically a 2–3 foot band up the wall and out along the ground.

  3. 03

Treat the eaves, soffits, and around windows where spiders, wasps, and boxelder bugs congregate.

  4. 04

Lay a granular perimeter band in mulch and turf along the base of the home for ground-level coverage that resists washout.

  5. 05

Note any gaps or entry points for follow-up exclusion so pests cannot simply walk around the barrier.

What We Use

Products & Materials

Non-repellent liquid concentrate

Mixed with water and applied as a band; pests cannot detect it, so they pick up a lethal dose crossing the zone.

Perimeter granules

Spread in mulch and turf at the foundation; activated by moisture and resists the washout that hits a liquid spray.

Eave & soffit treatment

A targeted application under rooflines where web-builders and fall invaders cluster.

What It Targets

Ants, spiders, boxelder bugs, stink bugs, centipedes, crickets, earwigs, and other crawling invaders.

When We Use It

As the backbone of a quarterly preventative program — the single most effective way to keep common crawling pests out of a Northeast Wisconsin home year-round.

What to Expect

Before, During & After

Before

We walk the perimeter, flag entry points and pest activity, and move items away from the foundation so the band can be applied cleanly.

During

A technician applies the liquid band and granules around the home — typically 20–40 minutes. You and your pets just need to stay off the treated surfaces until they dry (usually about an hour).

After

The barrier is active once dry and works for weeks. We return quarterly to refresh it. If you see pest activity between visits, we come back at no charge.

Safety

Applied to exterior surfaces only, with products registered for residential use. We follow all label directions, keep the spray away from water features and pollinator plants, and advise you on the short re-entry time before we start.

Common Questions

Perimeter Sprays — FAQ

No. The perimeter band is applied to the foundation and a narrow strip of soil and turf, at label rates that are not harmful to landscaping. We avoid treating blooming plants that pollinators visit.
