Ant Control — New London Kitchen

Odorous house ants trailing across a New London kitchen were eliminated at the colony with gel bait and a perimeter barrier.

The Field Report

Inspection

A New London homeowner had a steady trail of tiny ants across the kitchen counter every spring — odorous house ants, one of Wisconsin's most persistent nuisance ants. Spraying the foragers only splits the colony; you have to eliminate it at the source.

What We Found

  • An odorous house ant trail running from a window frame to the kitchen counter
  • A colony nesting in the wall void near the window
  • A moisture source from a dripping outdoor spigot attracting the ants

Treatment

We placed slow-acting gel bait directly on the trail so workers carried it back to the colony and the queen — the only way to actually eliminate an odorous house ant colony. We then applied a perimeter barrier around the foundation and advised the homeowner to fix the dripping spigot.

Follow-Up

The trail disappeared within days as the colony was eliminated from within. A quarterly perimeter program keeps this New London kitchen ant-free through every spring ant season.

Ant control in New London, WI — colony eliminated at the source, not just the foragers.
